It was lovely to see a lot of our regular customers come along to our big day! After all of the hard work we put in, and the endless days of baking enough cakes, we are pleased to say our 10 year anniversary was a success!
It was lovely to see a lot of our regular customers come along to our big day! After all of the hard work we put in, and the endless days of baking enough cakes, we are pleased to say our 10 year anniversary was a success!
The couple of days running up to our anniversary, our bakers were busy preparing all the cakes for the big day. Luckily we had the use of the AGA in Baldry’s Cottage, which eased the pressure on the oven inside the cafe’s kitchen. After lots of advertising online and in local shops we were all set for our big 10 year anniversary.
Unfortunately, not everything was on our side, the “Beast from the East” decided to cause a little bit of chaos during the couple of days leading up to the 10 year anniversary. We received lots of comments and messages on our social media posts of families being very weary of travelling up to Grasmere with such terrible weather. We still carried on with the event, with the hope that people would still be able to come!
All the preparation we had put in, led to this day. We had everything ready, all of the cakes were cut into bite-size pieces, and the kitchen was ready to send out a constant flow of sandwiches, burger sliders, soups and mini rarebits. Although it got off to a slow start, we had a sudden influx of customers ready to fill themselves up!
The feedback we received was amazing, everyone loved the food, decorations and more importantly the atmosphere. In order to set up the buffet, we moved furniture around the cafe in order to make room. Larger tables meant some people had to share, allowing them to have pleasant conversations of their love of Baldrys!
We also had a pleasant surprise for Alison, who’s worked extremely hard over the past 10 years! We asked local cake-maker Debbie Hebson (Grasmere Cakes) to bake us a special anniversary cake with a Baldry’s twist!
